Caroline Zimmerli

Senior Art Teacher and Social Media Coordinator

Caroline is the children’s art facilitator and social media coordinator of the culture connection. She has recently graduated from New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University with a bachelor’s degree in fine arts and minor in education. Recently completing her student teaching at both Hauppauge and Longwood school districts, her goals in life along with teaching at the culture connection are to achieve a career as a certified NYS art educator and an independent studio artist as well. While attending Alfred as an undergrad, Caroline studied abroad through Alfred’s painting department in Florence Italy at SRISA (Santa Reparata International School of Art), and was also a former intern for Alfred University’s summer ceramics program. She has also remained active by teaching children’s art classes at the Reboli Center for Art and History in Stony Brook village, and through her membership/volunteer work for NYSATA (New York State Art Teachers Association).

Caroline is a visual artist who works mainly with ceramic sculpture and oil painting, although has many experiences with all types of different and unique art mediums that correlate with her extensive list of past exhibitions. Her latest showing was her BFA Thesis exhibition at Alfred University, where she displays her passion for both 2D and 3D forms of art that fall within the same theme of environmental and political issues. Inspired by art history around the world, through the study of indigenous Australian art her paintings combine realistic imagery with organic patterning, while her sculptures physically deconstruct those images into abstracted forms. Her goal as an animal rights activist is to portray the cause and effect of the actions made through illegal wildlife poaching around the globe.

As a Port Jefferson local, she has remained active in her art community and prioritizes helping todays youth to embrace their individuality and creativity through various forms of art. Alongside her love for the beaches on the long island coast, Caroline loves travelling up north to the Catskills & Adirondacks or out west to the Rocky Mountains where she spends her free time as an active hiker and snowboarder.
